As much as we would like to all achieve the same look, not everyone is blessed with long beautiful nails. Not to mention the household chores we have to do and the work we are in! Some people are also naturally clumsy with their nail polish; they avail of the perfect manicure astatine a swish salon, but minutes after, the polish starts to chip and smudge. Thankfully, we have an option in acrylic nails!

Acrylic nails have been a celebrity favorite for the past few years. These artificial nails can be in any length, shape and color! You can opt to maintain a classic look with basic shades, or try to be a little more unconventional with exquisite patterns, prints and funky designs!

These acrylic nails are glued on to your real nails so that you will not have to deal with smudges or nail breakage. Some women prefer acrylic nails over the standard nail polish because it removes the hassle of having to grow their nails longer. They can just choose to keep their nails short and trimmed, and then magically transform it into long shapely and beautiful hands through these acrylics. You can also choose to wear acrylic nails to formal events.

long nail designsWhen creating a competition nail design, judges are looking for flawless, perfect nails that ar much longer, thinner, sleeker, and more dramatic than a salon nail.

During my first competition back in 1991, I was unaware that there was really a difference ‘tween a competition nail and a salon nail.

Despite duplicating a set of salon nails, I finished 8th out of 28 competitors.

When I examined the winning nails following the competition, I ascertained the differences.

After taking many pre-competition classes, I developed a better understanding of the differences as well as what the judges were looking for.

A COMPETITION NAIL DESIGN:

Long nails that ar sleeker and more dramatic.

Tip Length should be the same distance or just slightly shorter than the duration of the nail bed.

Tip Shape can be an extreme square or an extreme oval.

Very thin, about the thickness of a business card.

Deeper and more dramatic smile lines.

Deeper c-curves approximately 40 to 50%.

Color is a very bright white and a deeper pink to create contrast.

Consistency in all aspects from nail to nail.
